From the Principal's Desk

Welcome to Kensington Creative and Performing Arts High School (KCAPA)! We are happy to support you in continuing your child’s educational journey. Below, you will find vital information to help your child prepare for the 25-26 school year.

ARRIVAL AT SCHOOL:
School begins on August 25th, promptly at 7:30 a.m. Our day runs until 2:34 p.m. Students are expected to arrive at school on time. Doors open at 7:00 a.m., and breakfast is served daily. Students should arrive at school each day wearing their student ID and school uniform and be prepared for learning. If you lose your ID throughout the year, there is a $5 fee for the replacement. IDs will be issued free of charge to new students at freshman orientation on Friday, August 22, 2025.

UNIFORM:
Students are required to wear the school’s uniform each day. Uniforms can be purchased at our school store (affordable and many options), Cramer’s Uniform, or Flynn O’Hara. Below, you will find the approved uniform list for the year:

  • Black pants that fit at the waist and are free of holes and writing/designs
  • A shirt with a Kensington CAPA logo (sold at the school store)
  • Closed-toed shoes are required. Slides, Crocs, and slippers are not allowed.
  • School sweaters or sweatshirts with the KCAPA logo. Hoodies and other outerwear are not permitted to be worn in school.
  • Ski masks, “Sheistys”, and gaiters are not to be worn inside the building.
  • The school store will be open August 12th and 14th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. to purchase uniforms before the start of the school year. We will try to provide additional dates. We are excited about some of our new merchandise, designed by our talented KCAPA students!

CELL PHONES:
To ensure academics through the arts is the focal point of your time here, we have shifted to a completely cell phone-free school. We understand the importance of safety while commuting to and from school, so we have partnered with YONDR, a company that provides students with locking cell phone pouches. Students will keep their cell phones in their possession; however, the phones will be locked in the pouch until the end of the school day. Phones will be unlocked at the end of the school day. In case of emergency, parents/guardians will be able to reach their
student by calling the main office at 215-400-7400. YONDR bags are required and will be available to purchase for $30. If your child breaks their YONDR bag at any point during the school year, a replacement bag costs $30. Students who do not have a YONDR pouch will not be permitted to bring their phone inside the building.

LOCKERS:
There is a limited number of lockers available for students. You can rent a locker for $5. They are distributed on a first-come, first-served basis.

SUPPLIES:
Please come on the first day ready to learn with your supplies. During the first week of school, teachers will tell you what you need for their classrooms.
