Dear Kensington CAPA Families/Staff/Students,
As the 2024-2025 school year comes to a close, I want to personally congratulate every student and family on a job well done! This year has been truly exceptional, filled with incredible milestones and achievements that highlight the talent, hard work, and dedication of our entire Kensington CAPA community.
Our students have truly outdone themselves across a wide range of disciplines:
Digital Media & Film Excellence: Our students excelled in digital media, securing 1st place in SkillsUSA Local and 3rd place at States for Digital Cinema Production. Their film “Final Cut” swept the Philly Rising Filmmakers Exhibition with multiple top honors, and teams also earned 2nd and 3rd place in the Philadelphia Regional Media & Design Competition.
Dance Department Triumphs: Our vibrant dance students achieved 2nd place in the Puerto Rican Day Parade Competition, and our seniors were chosen for the prestigious All-City Dance Ensemble. The Dance Department also participated in numerous major performances throughout the year.
Campus & Community Enhancements: Our school received significant grants, including over $35,000 for PBIS and Esports initiatives. We completed two musical productions, made significant campus improvements like new auditorium carpets and a new projector, and are preparing a new PBIS game room for the upcoming school year.
Student and Staff Development: Our students achieved 1st place in the Pathways presentation, and our dedicated teachers are continually enhancing their skills through professional development programs.
Most importantly, Kensington CAPA students—your children—are heading into summer better educated and equipped with the knowledge and tools they need to thrive in the upcoming school year.
To the Class of 2025, congratulations and well done! Your focus, hard work, and determination to succeed have truly paid off. As you enter this next exciting chapter, remember that you can achieve anything you put your mind to. I know you will go on to do great things!
To the rest of our Kensington CAPA students and families, thank you for choosing Kensington CAPA High School. Thank you for attending every day. Thank you for partnering with us! Your support is invaluable to our students’ success.
We look forward to welcoming your children back to school on August 25th—the first day of school for the new academic year.
Have a wonderful and restful summer!
Sincerely,
Patricia McDermott
